Hurt - Nine Inch NailvHurt - Cash

Lyrics Nine Inch Nails
Hurt
I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything
What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt

I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar's chaire
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here
What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt

I will let you down
I will make you hurt

If I could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way
Press Quotes
(Translation, quote in French here)

(Stefan had to choose wich song he would like on the radio)

Francis Zegut: Ok Stefan, you  chose Johnny Cash.

Stefan Olsdal : Yeah, it's from his last record, it's a covers record. I bought it because there is a Depeche Mode's cover on it, Personal Jesus, but now we will listen to a track named Hurt by Nine Inch Nails, and it's really intense.

"Stefan Olsdal", Pop Rock Station, RTL2, 28 March 2003

N.B. : This song was performed by Placebo at this famous gig in Anaheim, California on the 1st of December 2003, when all their equipment was kept at approximately 7 hours from there in Mexico. At 5 o'clock in the afternoon, the band decided to play the gig after all and borrowed Josh Homme's drum kit (Eagles of Death Metal) and the venue's piano (House of Blues). The band played an acoustic set for about 70 minutes during which they also played Jackie and Mercedes Benz by Janis Joplin.
